Solutions · Orchards
Cleaner floors, efficient water, protected canopies.
Weed-control fabric · Drip irrigation · Insect & shade net · Supports
An orchard solution is a coordinated set of floor-covering, irrigation, pest-exclusion, shading and support materials chosen for the fruit crop, the age of the orchard and the climate. The aim is to solve the real problems between rows and around the canopy, without over-specifying products the site does not need.

Floor & root zone
Permeable weed-control fabric, selected mulch film and drip irrigation to suppress weeds, cut evaporation and water the active root zone.
Canopy & young trees
Insect netting, shade netting and supports where pests, sunburn, wind or tree establishment call for extra protection.
Built for long service
Fabric GSM, roll width, emitter spacing and flow matched to tree spacing, soil and the orchard’s life cycle.
What goes into the system
Materials organised around the main jobs in an orchard.
The combination depends on orchard age, row layout, weed pressure, irrigation design, target pests, sun exposure and expected service life.
01
Orchard floor & weed management
Woven or non-woven weed-control fabric and selected mulch films for weed suppression, moisture retention, cleaner fruit zones and easier row maintenance.
02
Drip irrigation & root-zone watering
Drip tape or dripline configured by tree spacing, soil wetting pattern, row length, terrain, flow requirement and operating pressure.
03
Insect, bird & sun protection
HDPE insect and shade nets configured by target pest, airflow, light demand, shade rate, wind exposure and local UV intensity.
04
Young-tree support & seasonal cover
Fiberglass rods for young trees and net supports, plus film for fruit nurseries, rain shelters or temporary seasonal protection where needed.
Application scenarios
Configured for different fruit crops and orchard stages.
Requirements change sharply between nursery stock, newly planted trees and mature rows, so the material plan follows the orchard stage as well as the crop.
New orchards and young trees
Weed control, drip lines and supports for newly planted avocado, mango, citrus or macadamia blocks through the establishment period.
Mature commercial orchards
Durable ground cover and root-zone irrigation for long rows, focused on weed suppression, water placement and maintenance access.
High-UV, high-heat and high-pest sites
UV-stabilised insect or shade net for fruit that suffers sunburn or pest damage, without cutting the light and airflow trees need.
Complete packages
Packages for establishment, maintenance and protection.
Start with the orchard stage and the operating problem, then adjust material, GSM, width, mesh, shade rate, emitter spacing, flow, UV level, roll format and packaging.

Why TradeBridge
One orchard brief. One coordinated material plan.
A useful orchard solution reduces mismatched specifications and unnecessary materials, and keeps replacement and expansion orders easy to repeat.
01
Integrated orchard sourcing
Ground cover, irrigation, protective netting, supports and seasonal covers on one specification.
02
Site-specific configuration
Products configured by fruit crop, orchard age, tree and row spacing, soil, terrain, pests and climate.
03
Service-life matching
Weed fabric chosen by permeability, GSM, UV exposure and years of use, not just the lowest price per roll.
04
Balanced canopy protection
Pest exclusion and sun protection balanced against the airflow and light trees need at flowering and fruit set.
05
Clear quality requirements
Dimensions, GSM, tensile properties, permeability, mesh, shade rate and emitter flow agreed up front.
06
Local supply partner
A Nairobi team for quotes, specs and delivery, with approved specs kept for the next block you plant.
How it works
How we configure an orchard solution.
Five steps turn orchard conditions into a checkable material list before anything is ordered.
Step 01
Define the orchard
Fruit crop, orchard age, area, tree and row spacing, terrain, soil, climate, target pests, water source and service life.
Step 02
Map the functions
Which zones need weed control, irrigation, canopy protection, young-tree support, nursery film or rain cover.
Step 03
Approve the specification
Materials, dimensions, GSM, mesh, shade rate, emitter spacing and flow, UV requirements, roll formats and samples.
Step 04
Supply and inspect
Agreed characteristics checked, such as dimensions, tensile performance, permeability, shade rate and emitter flow.
Step 05
Deliver and standardise
Approved row and product specifications kept on file for replacement or orchard expansion.
Example configuration
Establishment package for new commercial orchards
A distributor supporting newly planted fruit orchards needs one assortment for weed management, root-zone irrigation and early tree protection. A typical configuration combines weed-control fabric, drip tape, fiberglass supports and application-specific netting, with roll and emitter specifications aligned to the row layout.

FAQ
Orchard solution FAQs
Final specifications are confirmed against orchard age, fruit crop, soil, climate, pest pressure, irrigation design and installation method.
What information do you need for an orchard solution?
Fruit crop, orchard age, planting area, tree and row spacing, terrain, soil type, climate, pest pressure, water source and quality, expected service life and quantity. Row drawings and site photos make the specification more reliable.
Which weed-control fabric GSM suits orchards?
It depends on exposure, service period, weed pressure, foot and machine traffic and the drainage you need. Heavier fabric lasts longer under traffic but costs more and weighs more per roll. We will recommend a range and send samples to compare.
Should an orchard use mulch film or weed-control fabric?
Mulch film suits shorter crop cycles and establishment periods. Permeable weed-control fabric suits long-term rows because water and air pass through and it lasts several seasons. Many orchards use fabric along tree lines and keep inter-rows open.
How should orchard drip irrigation be chosen?
Match emitter spacing and flow to tree spacing, root-zone width and soil, then check row length, slope and available pressure. Filtration, pumps and mainlines are designed separately.
How do I choose insect and shade net for fruit trees?
Choose mesh by target pest and shade rate by the crop’s light needs and sunburn risk. Over-dense netting can reduce pollination, airflow and fruit colour, so we balance protection against what the tree needs.
What quality checks can be done before delivery?
Dimensions, GSM, tensile performance, water permeability, mesh, shade rate and emitter flow. Methods and acceptance criteria are agreed before production.
